Farm

Willey Lane Farm is a Post-medieval Farm situated in a dry valley  (with a ephemeral stream) overlooking Lingen, with features such as lynchets, an ancient wood which has been managed in the past (and is now being returned to management), and a stone lined well which was probably last used in the late 17th or early 18th centuries. It also has a man made pond which shows on the Ordnance Survey map c1890 but not on the earlier Tithe map c1825, suggesting construction in the mid 19th century. Neither the well nor the pond are near the present day farm buildings suggesting an earlier building adjacent to the well.

The original farmhouse, dating back some 300 years, was sold when the threshing barn, dating back some 200 years, (now Togpen) conversion was complete and Togpen is now the farmhouse for Willey Lane Farm. The conversion provided a low carbon house with far reaching views over the surrounding countryside.

From Presteigne: Drive down Broad Street (past the Judges Lodgings/Tourist Office), cross the bridge over the River Lugg (which marks the boundary between Wales and England), follow Ford Street up the incline past the first turning on the right (Kinsham) and turn right at the T junction signed Willey and Boresford. Follow the road to the left at the next junction (Stapleton) and go up the hill until the road levels and turn right at the junction signed Lingen.
